Whilst...The mummy in KV55 had gold bands around it. Whilst the body disintigrated due to water damage, the gold bands did not. These together with the coffin base bore the name of AKHENATEN and went "missing" shortly after the find. The coffin base is now back in The Cairo Museum as are the gold bands.Whilst it is always possible that it was another person in his coffin, the bands could not be falsified -it was AKHENATEN.
